Read through Signs Of A Cheating Spouse That Will Obviously Tell You Of His Infidelity extra

If your husband goes home late and you smell a whiff of a different perfume, your instincts will probably tell you that he is cheating. Yet, this is not the only way of finding out about a husband's infidelity. There are other signs of a cheating spouse that you may look for in your husband if you suspect that he is having an affair.

Calling And Using Phone In Private

There are instances when phone calls need to be answered in private, but going away at a certain distance to clearly hear the person on the other line will most likely be enough privacy. If he always moves away to another room to answer a call so you will not hear the conversation, take this behavior as an alarming indication of infidelity.

Another phone usage scenario to be doubtful about is when he prevents you from browsing his phone. If he does hand his phone to you, you will know that he has something to hide if all text and call history are deleted.

More Than One Account

Nowadays, most people use e-mail to send correspondence to other people. Many people are also fond of using social media networks. If your spouse has additional accounts for e-mails and social networks that he is not telling you, take this as a warning sign too. Normally, a person in commitment with another person will find no reason to have other accounts; furthermore, keep that account in secrecy.

Lack Of Time For Family

An affair is also often indicated by lack of time for family and friends. It can be easy to notice how a cheating husband chases for precious time. He might avoid going with the family on important occasions; or if he ever attends, he will leave early and make excuses that he has other tasks, projects or things to do. With this, there is a chance that he wants to have time to spend with the other person. Rather than spend more time at home during his rest day from work, he would still go out and make excuses for leaving.

Lack Of Intimacy

A husband is most likely having an affair with another woman if you notice that he hardly has time to even cuddle you. He does not touch you in the same way anymore, worse is completely avoid making love to you. Although it can happen that he is too tired for working the whole day, if he is always passing during time for intimacy, it could be a sign of unfaithfulness.

Fault Finding

A man is likely to have an affair is he is often finding faults in his wife, even though the latter does not do anything disappointing at all. A husband who is disloyal will find even the smallest shortcoming from the wife. Even if the weakness is too trivial, he will intensify it to spark an argument so they will drift farther from one another. A cheating husband will most likely admit that the other woman is better than the original wife.

Read through Book Review: A Spring Without Bees, by Michael Schacker additional

In recent years honey bees have been dying off at an alarming rate. In the United States, bee keepers claim the increase in this annual die off rate to be 30 per cent. The phenomenon has been wide spread also in Europe, especially France, where research is most thorough into possible reasons why. For some reason or other, countries like Australia and New Zealand have not experienced this problem.

The strange disappearance of the bees has been labelled Colony Collapse Disorder, or CCD (I know, another acronym to keep up with.) Bee colonies usually have some annual die off. Their numbers are typically killed off by disease and mites (the varroa mite, for example, which attaches itself to the abdomen of the bee and infects the bee with various diseases). Making the problem even more perilous for the bees is the fact that they have a low immunity, making them doubly vulnerable.

When bees die in this manner, they usually expire at the front of the hive, leaving a pile of bee corpses. With Colony Collapse Disorder, the result is different. Very few dead bodies are found at the front of the hive, and no adult bees are found within the hive. Unhatched broods are still found in the hives, and honey is still left behind. Adding to the strangeness of the scene, it takes weeks before predators like wax moths and hive beetles move in to start looting the abandoned honey. Typically these predators are quick to start eating the free honey. If these hungry predators were holding off, then this was a sure sign that something was wrong with the honey itself. The bees surely must have been sick.

Is Imidacloprid, Commonly Known as IMD, to Blame?

Enter the French beekeepers, who since 1994 have noticed that there has been a problem. After much science and research, the French started to point the finger at the insecticide IMD (imidacloprid), which is widely used in the US. Once the French called for a ban and restrictions on the use of IMD, they found that, after a few years (it takes time for the IMD to be flushed out of the ecosystem), the bees returned. Interestingly, Australia and New Zealand, the two countries that did not experience CCD, have stringent rules when it comes to the use of IMD. (Also of note, organic bees did not suffer CCD).

The studies found that even minuscule amounts of IMD (a few parts per billion), could disrupt the nervous system of the bees, making them unable to forage and basically think and act as bees should. Here is the Schacker on the subject:

"The French researchers got all the way down to less than one part per billion with their detector, and found that as little as a few parts per billion in the nectar or feed syrup could make the honey bee groggy, impairing the bee's short-term memory in smell and theoretically blocking normal foraging."

As mentioned above, IMD is used widely in the US, even extensively on suburban lawns and golf courses (the book cites alarming studies showing high cancer rates for golf course attendants).

Weaknesses in the Second Part of A Spring Without Bees

The second part of A Spring Without Bees turns into the usual call to arms, giving action plans and ways to help get rid of IMD on a personal level. Michael Schacker takes as certain that IMD is the culprit for Colony Collapse Disorder, yet the science on the subject, as described in the book, does not strike me as conclusive. This seems to be a major fault with the book: Schacker jumps too quickly to the conclusion that IMD is the culprit. While the research on IMD is certainly persuasive, it's not really conclusive. More work needs to be done.

Any argument against excessive use of chemicals and toxins in our environment is a no-brainer, yet this shouldn't be wound up with an argument stating that IMD is certainly the reason for Colony Collapse Disorder. We need to know the truth.

For the novice reader on all things bees, the book also could have been made more interesting by including a more detailed history of the bee and their ecological role. A Spring Without Bees offered lots of fascinating snippets of bee facts that could have happily been expanded upon.

As it stands, A Spring Without Bees works like a fascinating detective story that reaches its conclusions too soon.

Go through Reasons for Indoor Air Pollution additional

Reasons for Indoor Air Pollution

Odor Detector

Indoor air can be polluted in many ways. Considering how much time we spend in our office, home or other buildings, it goes without saying that these pollutants can have adverse effects on our health.

Indoor Temperature

The temperature and humidity of a building can pose health risks. High humidity can aid in the growth of mold, mildew, fungi, bacteria which can cause respiratory problems such as asthma, or make it worse.

The opposite condition, low humidity, can also pose problems, including dry skin, sore throat, and respiratory problems

Gas Problems

Carbon monoxide poses a particularly scary problem, simply because it is a colorless gas that you cannot smell. That means you need to know the symptoms. Or better yet, consider purchasing a carbon monoxide detector that will set off an alarm if you have dangerous levels in your home. You should also install exhaust fans over your gas stove for proper ventilation.

There are many potential sources for carbon monoxide, including tobacco smoke, unvented kerosene and gas space heaters, back-drafting from furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves, and fireplaces. Other possibilities include gas stoves, generators and other gasoline-powered equipment such as exhaust from your car.

Kerosene heaters, unvented gas stoves and heaters can be a source of nitrogen dioxide. Small-scale health problems may include eye, nose, and throat irritation. But high levels or long-term exposure to nitrogen dioxide increases your risk of respiratory infection. There is even evidence that exposure to heavy or long-term exposure to nitrogen dioxide could lead lung disease such as emphysema.

Bad Ventilation

Besides all of the ways indoor air can be polluted, if a building is not well ventilated, that can intensify the problem since outdoor air can't help dilute the pollutants in the building. Proper ventilation is particularly difficult in the cold months of winter when windows are rarely opened.

Bad Indoor Air Remedies

There are two main ways you can remedy polluted indoor air. You can improve ventilation. When weather permits, this can be done by simply opening windows and/or doors. Bathroom and kitchen fans that exhaust outdoors can also remove contaminants.

The most economical choice is to control the pollutants at the source. That's because increased ventilation, while an effective means of cleaning your air, also means an increase in your utility bills. Gas stoves can be adjusted to decrease emissions. Some other sources of indoor pollution can be sealed off.

Lastly, there is also the option of using air cleaners. There are many types of air cleaners available, so you need to do your due diligence. Not all are efficient in collecting pollutants from indoor air.

Have you ever gone to someone's home and sat on their couch and the scent of urine rose up around you? Is this a problem in your home? It's bad enough when our wonderful little pets pee on our carpets but when they pee on the furniture that's a more difficult challenge. Whether it is on sofas, couches or chairs here is how to take care of the problem.

When you find urine, it is important to remove it right away or else your pets may start to consider that an appropriate place to pee.

Hi, I have been a professional carpet cleaner in Anchorage Alaska for over 30 years. I have cleaned a lot of urine out of upholstery.

The number one rule for eliminating any urine odor anywhere is you have to do three things:

Find all of the urine
Remove as much urine as you can
Kill the bacteria causing the odor

Find all of the urine
What you see on the surface is not necessarily all of the urine. The urine depending on where it was deposited will travel through the fabric and into the batting. How deep it goes depends on how much urine was deposited. Often times a pet will pee on the same spot several times and each time the urine will go deeper.

On some types of fabric it might be hard to see urine stains. You can smell it but you can't pinpoint where it is. In this case go to a big pet supply store and purchase two items, a black light made to detect urine and a urine detector probe.

The black light
With the black light you can see the urine areas light up. They will be a blue green color under the light. If you have already applied other cleaners to this area, this may affect the black light reading. The room must be as dark as possible. Do this at night if you can. If it is too light you won't be able to see the light well enough. Look at every square inch of the upholstery including under the cushions. Use a piece of WHITE chalk to mark the urine areas. Draw a circle around them.

The moisture probe
The probe is little moisture detector with two sharp prongs that you insert into the materials you are testing and will beep if it detects moisture. Urine has salt crystals which hold moisture. Be very careful with some fabrics so you do not damage them with the prongs. Use the prongs everywhere you think you found urine with the black light. When the detector gets louder that means it has detected more moisture. This usually means a higher concentration of salt crystals. If you get zero response from the probe then use old world technology and stick your nose in there and smell that area. The probe can also be used in areas where you can not see the results of the black light such as inside of the upholstery. You know, when you have lost your cell phone so you are digging in the recesses of the upholstery? That's where I am talking about.

Okay so now you have located and marked the urine areas. The next step is to:

Remove as much urine as you can
I would suggest renting a carpet steam cleaning machine with an upholstery attachment. As professionals we use acidic solution urine stain removers. You can use vinegar. This breaks down the salts and helps remove the stain. Use one cup white vinegar with every gallon of water you use. Using the rental steam cleaner extract as much of the urine as possible. You can carefully use a watering can to pour the vinegar water solution onto the stain areas on horizontal surface and the use the machine to extract it out. Be very careful that you do not drive the urine deeper by over wetting without extracting it out.

Once you feel you have gotten as much urine out as you can, it's time to kill the bacteria.

Kill the bacteria causing the odor
There are two different types of solutions you can use to do this, a disinfecting solution that kills the bacteria outright or an enzyme that eats any remaining urine and causes the bacteria to die for lack of food.

For you I would suggest using the enzyme process. There are many good enzymes for sale but while you are at the pet store getting you other tools you can pick up some enzyme solution made for removing urine odors. Read instructions carefully. The most important thing to know about using enzymes is that you need to use enough to do the job. If you try to save money by using "just enough" it probably will not work. Overkill is not a bad idea when it comes to using enzymes. You might put a sheet of plastic under the upholstery in case the enzymes run clear through. If there is already a disinfectant on the urine areas do not use enzymes. The disinfectant will kill them.

While you are in the store see if they have a syringe with a long needle designed to inject the solutions into the upholstery. This needle will be necessary for vertical surfaces and is great for in the recesses. The whole idea here is too get the enzyme or disinfectant to where the urine is. You want to inject more cleaning solution into the upholstery than the amount of urine the pet put into the upholstery.

If you use an enzyme do not put fans on the upholstery. The enzymes work best when wet.

Final step is to clean the upholstery. You can use the regular method and solutions recommended by the place where you rented your machine.

Cautions:

If you have cotton, wool or silk fabric on your upholstery, use extreme care. I would suggest you ask a professional to take care of this problem for you. These fabrics stain very easily and need to be dried immediately after cleaning.

Even with all of these steps being taken you may not be able to eliminate the entire urine odor. The problem is that you are trying to clean a problem you can not see. If you missed areas of urine deep in the piece of furniture it may still have a urine odor.

Odor Detect

It is possible an ozone machine might help. As professionals, for serious urine problems in upholstery we are successful about 85% of the time.

Good luck

Read through 8 Effective Methods To Avert Gas Leaks And Have Peace Of Mind far more

A gas leak is nothing to joke about, especially during the winter holiday season when the house is bound to have a few lit candles laying around. Even though homeowners are aware of the danger posed by a gas leak, most still continue to have various appliance (AC units, furnaces, stoves, clothes dryers and water heaters, just to name a few) in their home that work on gas. If you want to prevent a disaster caused by a gas leak during winter, then here are some things you should do:

1. If you need to move appliances connected to a gas pipe to make more room, then always call a professional.

2. Even though the temperatures in your home are low, never use a stove, oven or cooker for heating purposes. While it's very hard to risk a fire like this, you could always cause a deadly carbon monoxide buildup.

3. Learn how to operate the pilot light at any equipment that uses gas and refrain from putting it out, as otherwise you risk allowing more gas into the room.

4. It is always a good idea to install a carbon monoxide and a gas detector in your home to prevent a disaster.

5. It is highly advisable to avoid using flammable liquids near gas-based home equipment.

6. In spite of the fact that you have limited available space, it is best to avoid storing items that could catch fire easily near the gas lines so you don't put too much pressure on the joints.

7. Perform the maintenance routine as indicated by the manufacturer and check the flexible connectors regularly for cracks.

8. In the eventuality that you are going away for the holidays, turn all gas (and electricity) appliances off to prevent unwanted accidents.

Gas leaks are not hard to detect

While natural gas is colorless and does not have any smell, the one used by your household appliances is different and hence, could be detected by:

Specific rotten egg smell - which is actually a chemical added by the gas provider particularly for the purpose of detecting a potential leak.

A faint, hissing sound around the domestic devices (or the sound of the carbon monoxide/gas alarm if you installed one).

Sudden physical illness symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness, drowsiness or shortness of breath could indicate a carbon monoxide buildup.

Visual indicators, particularly outdoors (bubbling water, dead vegetation).

In case you notice any of the aforementioned gas leak signs or you have reasons to suspect that a certain gas appliance in your home is malfunctioning, then the first thing you should do is open all the doors and windows so you provide a fast means for the gas to escape. Even though it may seem normal to call 911 right away, you should go close the main gas valve first. Because the air is filled with inflammable gas, it is safer to avoid doing anything that could create a spark, including using your mobile or home phone.

Study What's That Smell? Keys to Eliminating That Musty Mold Odor From Your House more

If your house suffers from a musty, dank odor, it is the result of hidden ( or not so hidden) molds and mildew munching on organic matter in your house. The mold and mildew will continue to make your home their home unless you make a few basic changes to your home's environment. You can take the steps necessary to improve the air quality of your home and thus improve the health of you and your family.

Mold thrives on moisture. It needs moisture to live and reproduce, so the obvious attack plan is to bring your home's moisture level down. It is recommended that your home's humidity level should never be above 50%. To reduce your home's moisture level:

1.       Run a dehumidifier. Consider purchasing a dehumidifier with a built in hygrometer, which measures the air humidity level so you know at all times what the level is. Dehumidifiers also improve air quality by sucking in airborne microorganisms and dust and depositing them in the drip pan.

2.       Run an exhaust fan or open a window when taking a shower. If you are installing an exhaust fan in your bathroom, install one that is rated for twice the area of your bathroom, that way you will not need to run it as long.

3.       Increase circulation in your house by making sure furniture is at least 3 inches from an outside wall. The difference in temperature between your wall and the inside air can cause moisture to condense.

4.       Run a "dry" air conditioner" in the warmer months. Dry air conditioners do not have a built in humidifying feature. This is very important as "wet" air conditioners can store mold microorganisms in the cooling water and spread these all over your house.

5.       Insulating paint- Apply insulating paint to outside facing walls. These paints contain a tiny amount of ceramic that forms a barrier and slows the transfer of heat. Walls that are the same temperature as the rest of the room will not encourage moisture to settle on them.

By reducing the moisture level in your home, mold will not have the ideal environment it needs to grow. The air quality will improve as mold spores released during the reproduction cycle will be eliminated. If your family suffers from allergies or asthma, you may notice a marked improvement in those conditions. In addition, the odor produced by molds and mildew will go away as the invaders move on to more hospitable environments.

Understand Most Common Bacterial Vaginosis Symptoms additional

Bacterial vaginosis symptoms can be confusing. Not all women suffering from this condition have symptoms, and not all of the symptoms associated with bacterial vaginosis necessarily mean you have the infection. Understanding the symptoms can make it easier to tell whether you have a bacterial infection, or another vaginal problem.

An unpleasant odor

By far the most common symptom is the smell. Like other vaginal infections, bacterial vaginosis produces a fishy smell. The odor is usually pretty strong. Many women suffering from an infected vagina constantly worry about whether other people can detect the scent. They may develop low-self esteem and depression from this. It can be helpful for women to remember that millions of other women have dealt with this condition, so they aren't alone. The smell is just a result of the infection and doesn't reflect on them as a person.

Discharge

Discharge is another one of the common symptoms. All vagina's produce a small amount of discharge. This can increase during ovulation. Any unexpected changes in the consistency or color of discharge should be checked out by a doctor. With bacterial vaginosis, your discharge will most likely be thinner than usual. It will also have a grayish white color, sometimes with a yellow tint. Some bacterial vaginosis symptoms, discharge in particular, can be confused with the symptoms of a yeast infection. However, discharge from yeast infections is much thicker and resembles cottage cheese.

Other symptoms

A few other bacterial vaginosis symptoms may occur. Itching and burning have been reported by some women. If you're experiencing vaginal burning and itching, don't jump to conclusions. You might not have an infection at all; symptoms like this are sometimes related to simple irritation of the vaginal area. This irritation can be caused by things like scented tampons and colored toilet paper. Redness and soreness can also be symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, but these are less common.

Dealing with the symptoms

Until treatment, there are a few things you can do to ease the symptoms. Taking a hot bath will relieve itching and burning if you're having problems with those symptoms. A cold compress takes care of any swelling. If your vagina itches, resist the urge to scratch it. This can make the irritation worse. Washing frequently with a gentle soap will help keep the smell down.

Go through Purge and Trap Equipment: A Review of VOC Analysis extra

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are carbon-based compounds that occur naturally and vaporize at room temperature. Although some VOCs pose a minimal threat to humans and the environment, others pose a significant threat and must be reduced or eradicated. In fact, some VOCs are toxic enough for the Environmental Protection Agency to consider them Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) - dangerous substances whose use is tightly regulated in the industrial sector. To detect dangerous VOCs in soil, water, and other substances, scientists use purge and trap equipment to facilitate the Gas Chromatography (GC) process. The purge and trap process for GC is outlined below:

The autosampler moves the sample to the column inlet
Gas bubbles through the sample to release the compounds
The compounds are released into the column
The column is heated and the compounds become vapor
The compounds travel into the chromatograph

This simple, yet effective process frees the sample of compounds that occur at low parts per billion (ppb) levels. Purge and trap analysis is used to test various substances for the presence of hazardous compounds. Three types of VOC testing that are commonly performed with purge and trap equipment include:

Beverage Testing

Beverages are created using food grade ingredients, but they often contain testable levels of VOCs. A natural ingredient that is improperly processed or formulated may release a trace amount of a VOC. According to researchers, more than 7,000 flavor volatiles have been established for foods and beverages. For example, an orange contains 203 VOCs; a baked potato has 259 VOCs; black tea possesses 541 VOCs; and the coffee bean contains a surprising 790 VOCs. It is important to remember, however, that not all VOCs are classified as HAPs.

Soil Testing

Soil testing is perhaps the best-known application for the purge and trap analysis of VOCs. Soil from fields, construction sites, Low Emissions Zones (LEZs), and brownfield sites is regularly tested for VOC containment. In some cases, the VOCs in soil pose little danger to humans or the environment, especially if the soil is located outdoors. However, VOCs classified as HAPs fall under EPA emission standards, and must be contained at appropriate levels.

Water testing

Industrial pollution is a common source of toxic compounds in wastewater and natural water bodies. In some cases, the presence of VOCs is detectable by smell alone, while in others a dangerous level of VOCs exists even after industrial filtration measures are taken. Analyzing water for VOCs is essential for the protection of human health, animals, and aquatic life.

Conclusion

Scientists use purge and trap equipment to analyze samples for the presence of low-level compounds, particularly VOCs. Purge and trap autosamplers are unique for how they operate. The autosampler places the sample in the injector, the compounds are separated from the sample and trapped in the concentrator, and then travel by carrier gas to the detector in the gas chromatograph. For help selecting the right autosampler for your analytical needs, contact a supplier of new and used laboratory equipment today.

Purge and trap equipment lets scientists perform purge and trap analysis on VOCs and other types of compounds.

Go through Does Your Home Have a Septic Problem? 5 Key Warning Signs much more

As a homeowner, we take pride in making sure our home looks nice and is well maintained. But how do we know whether or not our septic system is functioning, when we can't see it? Many homeowners claim that by the time you know are having a problem, it is too late. While in many instances that is the case, it does not have to be that way. The author shares 5 Key Warning Signs that will help you avoid serious Septic Problems, and offers tips to prevent the onset of such issues.

To begin with, there is really no excuse for not using a monthly treatment to maintain your septic tank and interior piping. Nowadays, the vast majority of household cleaners and wipes are anti-bacterial. Add that to the bleaches and laundry detergents, the scented soaps and body washes and your septic tank is almost guaranteed to fail. It is not a question of if there is a problem but when that issue will occur, if your septic tank is failing. With that being said, here is a list of a few warning signs that you need to pay better attention to your septic system.

Slow moving drains, sinks and toilets. While noticing the early stages of slow moving drains can be difficult, a slow moving bathtub drain can be quite telling of your septic problems. In short, if your drains and sinks are draining slow, you have waste back up in your pipes and the problem will only get worse.
Odor is present both in home and in yard. The earlier you can detect the odor the better. Many homeowners dismiss the early signs of odor, even pouring more bleach or cleaner into the drains and toilets in an effort to solve the problem. They soon find out that only makes matters worse.
Age of Your Home. If your home is older than two years old and to your knowledge has had limited treatment / attention paid to it. Older septic tanks and sewer systems are more likely to fail, if your system is old, despite not showing full blown symptoms of failure, the age alone is a warning sign.
Wet Spots in yard. This one should go without saying, but if you are seeing wet spots or flooding around your septic tank or leaching fields, obviously there is a problem and immediate action is needed. Plan on purchasing a shock as well as monthly treatments.
Your Own Actions. Listen you know whether or not you clean with anti-bacterial solutions and bleaches. You know how long you have been in the home, you know the age of the home, you know whether or not you have been treating and taking care of your septic system. If you have not, then you can expect a problem and the sooner you act, the better.

At the end of the day, there are a number of warning signs that can tip you off as to whether or not your home as a septic problem. But in all honesty, in today's day and age with household cleaners and detergents what they are, homeowners MUST maintain a treatment schedule. This does not have to include regular pumping, but at the very least use a sewer treatment that has proven to be the industry best.

Dealing With Vaginal Odor Problems Naturally

Odor Detect

You may sometimes notice the odor from your vagina and at times, it might be noticeable to your partner. However, the smell from a healthy vagina should not be unpleasant, and is often described as a "musky" odor. When the smell makes you or your partner flinch, it is time to take action and dealing with vaginal odor problems naturally is not difficult

One of the first steps you should take is to look at your washing habits. Most of us, when faced with a problem like this would have a natural tendency to wash more and used scented products to cover up the smell. This is one of the worst things you can do as you will strip out the natural protective lubricants in the vagina, causing an overgrowth of harmful bacteria. You should wash twice a day, using plain water and an unperfumed soap.

Next, allowing air to circulate is important as bacteria grows well in damp, warm environments. Therefore, wear cotton panties and avoid tight trousers and pantyhose.

Another good way of dealing with vaginal odor problems naturally is to wear a thin panty pad. These pads can absorb some of the discharge causing the smell and this does seem to "lock in" some of the odor. These pads can be discreetly changed when necessary-a real boon if you are out and about.

Finally, change pads and tampons regularly when on your period as stale blood can sometimes smell unpleasant. Also, never forget to remove the last tampon of your period!

If you can detect a fishy odor and your discharge is watery, you may well have the very common condition known as bacterial vaginosis. This condition is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring bacteria in the vagina. Although dealing with vaginal odor problems naturally is usually simple, if you think you have BV, a strategic approach is best as if left untreated, the condition can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility.

Examine Bacterial Sinus Infection Is A Thing Of The Past If Well Managed far more

A bacterial sinus infection is an infection that occurs when there is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses by bacteria. Paranasal sinuses are four pairs of cavities or spaces that are found within the head skull and are situated around the nose area. The infection is basically characterized by severe headache, nasal congestion, continuous discharge of thick yellow or green pus-like substance from the nose, blurred vision and possibly, aching teeth. Occasionally, this health condition may lead to a situation whereby the patient is neither able to detect any type of odor nor is he able to smell anything.

Common bacteria believed to be the causes of bacterial sinus infection include Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus and the Haemophilus influenzae bacteria. They bring this infection by colonizing the damaged surface tissues inside the nose while causing them not to function properly. These tissues are then forced to swell hence making it difficult for the patient to breathe. The infection could worsen when air gets to be trapped within an obstructed sinus. Severe pain may be produced as a result of this occurrence.

Once you have a bacterial sinus infection, it may take you several days, weeks, months or even years for the infection to disappear. After being diagnosed, the precise type of bacteria causing this infection would have been known and your doctor will be in a good position to prescribe a nice course of possible treatment that could help treat this infection. This could mean that you get to use decongestants so as to minimize the level of congestion in the nose, taking antibiotics in order to control the bacterial infection and lastly using some pain killers for pain relief. However, in order for you to say that you have been cured, the drainage pathways of the nose need to have been re-established and total control over the source of inflammation, needs to be yours.

When medicinal approach fails to cure this bacterial sinus infection, the doctor could prescribe oral steroids like prednisone to you. Many a times, these oral steroids have shown significant side effects in the patient and for this reason, they would only be prescribed to you when all the other medicines have failed to cure the infection. The option of surgery most of the time appears to be expensive but it is usually the best option for those who want to clear this problem completely.

In children, surgery is mainly used to remove the adenoids that appear to be blocking the nasal-sinus pathways. On the other hand, surgery in adults is mainly used to remove the polyps that may have developed and now they are tampering with the proper drainage system. Moreover, the surgery could also be used to correct the deviated septum so as to allow an open clear air pathway to be established. Most doctors prefer conducting the functional endoscopic sinus surgery to their patients because it allows natural pathways from the sinuses to be broadened even further in order to allow proper drainage. To minimize chances of getting a bacterial sinus infection, people are always advised to stay away from any types of air pollutants.

Understand The 2 Best Entries in the Mini Water Cooler Market additional

Unfortunately, the available products in the mini water dispenser market are pretty lacking in quality and features for the most part. However, out of roughly 12 products that were tested, two of them stood out above the pack as superior in build quality, features, and general "bang for the buck." However, great features and construction also tend to come with a hefty price point, and these small water coolers are no exception. While you can spend much less on one of these units, the features will suffer accordingly. The two areas that suffer the most in the cheap products are:

Water aroma/taste
ConstructionWhile construction is a feature that one would expect to suffer in a cheap product, water quality is one area where you probably do not want to sacrifice your satisfaction in return for saving a few bucks.

That being said, here are the 2 best mini water coolers currently on the market:

Cuisinart WCH-850

This heavy duty water cooler features an built-in water filter which helps fight the nasty taste and odor that many water supplies suffer from. While this is a point-of-use rather than point-of-entry filter, it still gets the job done nicely. Included in the list of contaminants that are removed:

Chlorine taste and odor 97.5%

Mercury 92.8%

Benzene 84.1%

Cadmium 96.6%

Copper 85.0%

Tetrachloroethylene 92.5%

Toluene 89.8%That's quite an extensive list, so they really went all out in terms of giving the user the absolute cleanest water possible.

Another great feature of the WCH-850 is the exceptionally good water cooling. While many smaller water dispensers suffer from an inability to refrigerate water in any meaningful way, but thankfully that is not the case here. I was able to get a full 1.5 gallons (full capacity) cooled down in a couple of hours, the best performance I saw out of all the units I tested.

Oasis Onyx Ultra

The big draw for this unit is the eco-friendly filter. Completely biodegradable, these green filters should last you anywhere from 2 to 4 months depending on how much the water dispenser is used. When the filter finally does require replacement, Oasis has made it incredibly easy on even the most inexperienced user. Specifically, the filter housing (which is reusable, by the way) simply twists off of the filter element, easily making way for a replacement.

Other features that left me impressed included a hot water option with emergency shutoff capability, a leak detector that could potentially save you lots of arduous cleanup in the unlikely case of defect, as well as a water dispensing area that is lit by a cool looking and functional LED.

Conclusion

The rest of the small form factor water dispenser market quite frankly left a lot to be desired, especially after reading some user reviews. Complaints about reservoirs being made of questionable plastic materials and poor build quality almost convinced me that there were no serious contenders. Thankfully, the above two products came through on all fronts, making them my personal picks for the best in small water coolers!

Natural Gas Leaks in Your Home - How to Prevent Them

Odor Detector

If you home is heated by natural gas you are familiar with the convenience and, cleanliness it provides your home. Unfortunately, you are probably also familiar with the fear and sense of powerlessness that comes with the thought of the consequences of a gas leak. The dangers of a gas leak are real; sickness and even fire or explosion though there are simple steps that will greatly reduce any risks. The following steps are a guide to gas leak prevention that can protect your home and remove a bit of that helpless feeling.

The first step in preventing a gas leak is ongoing maintenance for any existing gas appliances such as boilers, water heaters or stoves. Periodically these should be checked to ensure that they are in proper working order and that all connections and gas lines are secured to prevent a leak. When a repair is needed or suggested it is critical that this be done immediately and by a professional. Some gas utilities will offer this inspection service, if not they can offer a list of trusted suppliers. It is also important to ensure that any ventilation is maintained. This would have been established when installed, but any changes will effect the appliances operation. Keep watch over your appliances operation. Signs of problems can be soot buildup around burners or a change in the flames color from blue to yellow.

If you are shopping for a new appliance be sure to check for labeling that certifies that national safety standards have been met. A contractor can help you select a high efficiency appliance with low emissions that will fit your needs and budget. When a new gas appliance is purchased it is important that the installation be done by a qualified professional.

A home that has experienced any kind of natural disaster must be checked thoroughly for any gas leaks that could have occurred. Earthquakes can dislodge gas lines, water and silt can destroy gas control valves or twisters can cause tress to fall and damage natural gas tanks. After any serious event a thorough inspection for gas leaks should be conducted before declaring a home safe.

Natural gas is treated with an additive so that it has an odor that can be detected when there is a leak. Leaking gas has a very recognizable smell and it is a good idea to discuss with the family what steps will be taken when a gas leak is suspected. It is critical to know where the gas shutoff is located if a leak is suspected due to smelling gas. The main can be turned off, but safely should be your first concern and if you feel that there is a strong odor the house should be vacated immediately and the fire department and police should be contacted. If it is faint you can attempt to turn off any gas appliances or the main while leaving any windows or doors open.

Accidents occur despite any attempts to prevent gas leaks so a gas leak detector is a good idea. There are numerous types of gas detectors that can be installed in a home. They range from battery operated wall mounts similar to smoke detectors to complex additions that are part of home security systems. A gas leak detector should be placed as close to a gas source as possible to give as much warning as possible.

Study What Causes Body Odor more

What Causes Body Odor

Odor

Most people are concerned about having excessive body odor. In today's society, having a bad body odor is usually considered the result of poor hygiene or from excessive sweating. However, that really is not the case.

Body odor is caused by bacteria that live on the body, so obviously, taking a bath, and wearing clean clothes will help you smell better, but some people have more bacteria living on them than others do, and no amount of cleaning is going to get rid of their odor problem.

For some people, stopping the sweating is the important thing, and if you are one of those people that sweat profusely, you may really want to use an antiperspirant, which will help slow down the amount of sweat that the body produces.

For most people that sweat profusely, a simple deodorant will not work, they need something stronger. An antiperspirant body spray may be what they are looking for, as this will slow down the amount of sweat produced.

Most people do not realize it, but sweat is not what causes body odor. It is a factor, but it is the bacteria that lives on their body. The sweat provides a breeding ground for the bacteria and allows it to multiply. The waste product of the bacteria is what causes the body odor.

There are natural products on the market that will eliminate the production of bacteria on the body, and effectively will eliminate body odor, but it will not stop the sweating. Even if you could eliminate the body odor by eliminating the bacteria, most people would want to eliminate the excessive sweating.

One thing to keep in mind, sweating is the natural method that the body uses to regulate temperature. When it is warm, the body will sweat, and as the sweat evaporates, the body is cooled off. To properly regulate your inner core temperature, you need to sweat some, so do not try to eliminate all sweat from occurring. It is not healthy.

With 39 percent of households in the United States owning 77.5 million dogs, it's not surprising to know that dogs bring joy to humans. (American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, 2010). Pets in general are beneficial for people because they offer companionship, acceptance and loving contact. A study in the Journal of American Geriatrics demonstrates that "seniors living on their own who have pets tend to have better physical health and mental well-being than those who don't. They are more active, cope better with stress and have better overall health. They also reported shorter hospital stays and less health-care costs than non-pet owners."

Dogs create better health

Dr. Deborah Wells, a psychologist from Queen's University in Belfast, United Kingdom, confirmed, after reviewing dozens of research papers, that pet owners tended to be in better general health than those who did not own pets. She said dog owners suffered fewer minor ailments and serious medical problems.

Supporting this theory, a Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine study, Beneficial Effects of Pet Ownership on Some Aspects of Human Health and Behaviour, says, "...new pet owners reported a highly significant reduction in minor health problems during the first month following pet acquisition. The results provide evidence that pet acquisition may have positive effects on human health and behaviour, and that for dog owners these effects are relatively long term." This means pet owners required fewer visits to the doctor and had less need for medications.

How does this happen? Dogs in particular provide these benefits for their human families:

Reduced stress and lower blood pressure- Health Behavior News Service reports that, when conducting a stressful task, people actually experience less stress when their pets are with them, compared to when a supportive friend or spouse is nearby.

Increased amount of exercise - Because dogs need exercise, dog owners participate in more physical activity than non-dog owners.

Enhanced social interaction - Dogs have a funny way of bringing people together. Dog lovers are not shy when approaching another person with a dog. This facilitates social interaction between people and between people and dogs. One study even shows that wheelchair users, when accompanied by a dog, experience more positive social interactions with strangers.

Overall wellbeing - People benefit largely from the unconditional love and companionship pets provide. A person feels needed, loved, appreciated, and less lonely. A St. Louis University Medical Center study done in a nursing home noticed that residents who had scored high on a loneliness scale said they wanted to receive weekly one-on-one visits from dogs. After six weeks, these residents experienced a significant decrease in their loneliness.

Pet ownership is a big responsibility and is not necessarily for everyone. The cost and care of having a pet should be considered before bringing home a new four-legged family member. However, the benefits of owning a dog, or any pet, can far outweigh the drawbacks and elevate the overall health of its owner.

Therapy dogs prove to be superstars

The theory that dogs improve people's health has been around a long time. As early as the 18th century, therapy dogs were brought into mental institutions to help socialize patients with mental disorders. Today, the use of therapy dogs extends into many branches of health care, including nursing homes and hospitals.

Susan Oh, Owner of OhomeCare (ohomecare.com), a company providing homecare and therapy dog services in Denver, Colorado, says, "We've seen firsthand how therapy dogs enable seniors to gain a sense of acceptance, self-confidence and comfort."

People with Alzheimer's disease have smiled and laughed because of interactions with dogs (Buttram, D. 2004). Patients who underwent joint replacement surgery and were visited by therapy dogs needed 50 percent less pain medication (Plunkett 2009).

"The major problem with emotional and physical disorders is the resulting inability to function normally. Dogs help normalize many of us. They provide connection with caring and positive thinking," says Bob Howat, a licensed marriage and family therapist.

Both stories and statistics offer insight as to why the human spirit is genuinely moved by the unwavering love and affection of therapy dogs.

Dr. Dog?

Will dogs go from being "man's best friend" to "man's favorite doctor"? Some dogs have been trained to recognize cancerous samples; others have reacted to an owner's condition all on their own. Either way, researchers are encouraged by the results of studies that have led them to confirm that diseases give off odors and dogs have sensitive enough olfactory skills to pick up on them. Dogs are consistently sniffing out significant medical trouble and enlightening the medical community on alternative disease detection methods.

Cancer detection by dogs was first noted in the early 1980s when, Gill Lacey's dog, Trudi, kept sniffing at his leg. He realized she was sniffing at a tiny mole. The mole turned out to be a malignant melanoma, a deadly form of cancer. The dog had sensed something was wrong; therefore saving his life.

Cancer in many forms has proven to be a disease that dogs can accurately smell. Using urine samples from people with and without bladder and prostate cancers, dogs have accurately uncovered the cancerous samples. The British Medical Journal published a study from the scientists at Amersham hospital in which dogs had a 41 percent success rate for sniffing out bladder cancer.

Researchers were puzzled when all the dogs indicated that one of the "cancer-free" samples was a cancerous sample. The patient who gave the sample had been examined prior to the study and no cancer had been found. They retested the patient. Incredibly, the tests revealed a tumor in the patient's right kidney that had escaped diagnosis by usual medical tests the first time.

The PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test, which is widely used to uncover cancer has a high false-positive rate. According to the Chief of Urology at the University of New York, Anthony Y. Smith, MD, "If all the men with high PSA scores go on to have biopsies, fewer than one-third will actually have cancer."

In contrast, out of 66 tests, the trained dog picked out the sample from a person with prostate cancer 63 times with only three false-positives.

Dogs even have the remarkable ability to detect breast and lung cancers. For these cancers, the dogs had been trained to smell subjects' breath that was captured in tubes. The results were an astounding 88 percent for breast cancer and 97 percent for lung cancer (Integrative Cancer Therapies). The trained dogs also identified both cancers in their early stages, the study confirmed.

Another incredible feat by our furry friends is their ability to detect the onset of a diabetic's episode. An organization called Cancer and Bio-Detection Dogs in the United Kingdom trains dogs to recognize when their owners are having, or are about to have, a diabetic episode by using body odor. One of the trainers is diabetic, so when she has a hypoglycemic attack, she captures her body odor on cotton and puts it in a bottle. When she opens the bottle, the dog is trained to lick her face and fetch her insulin kit.

The dogs who are trained to react to diabetes issues have allowed their owners more freedom to go about their lives because the dog can often detect the attack before it happens. This lets the owner take action to address his or her blood sugar levels before it is a real problem.

The next step is for researchers to identify which chemical or chemicals are in the diseases that the dogs are reacting to. Then a medical device, an "electronic nose," can be developed that will pick up that scent and would present a groundbreaking early detection method for disease.

Dogs have always been a natural favorite pet for many Americans. Dogs have shown their value in the medical field for a long time by providing their presence as a comfort to many ill and aging patients. Now they are giving hope to incredible advances in disease detection as well.

Read through Bed Bug Pest Control: The Latest Detection Methods additional

As very tiny pests to begin with, bed bugs can be quite difficult to detect. Not only are they minuscule in size, but they quiet, sneaky, and most active at night, leaving you unaware of their presence until you wake up with bites. It is due to these factors that makes home pest inspection for bed bugs a tricky feat.

Seeing as bed bug pest control has proven to be challenging, your local pest control company will most likely have several different detection methods in order to make sure you accurately find and get rid of bed bugs.

Here is a look at five popular bed bug detection techniques:

1. Visual Inspection.

Yes, these critters are almost impossible to detect with the naked eye, but they do leave evidence around that proves their existence. Your local pest control company can advise you about certain home pest inspection tactics, such as using a bright flashlight to search for the bugs in cracks and seams of your upholstery and bed. Bed bugs also leave around small droppings that have a specific odor so any small brown dots on sheets or on a nearby wall are a sign that these pests are around. Make sure to check all crevices, such as under cushions, mattresses, and box springs, as these pests seem to thrive in those areas.

The problem with this visual detection method is that it requires a good amount of time and focus to hunt for signs of infestation, and there is no certainty that your findings will be accurate. Hence this is why other pest control detection methods have been created.

2. Passive devices.

Passive devices are set up in potential bed bug hot spots and are designed to not attract pests, but rather sit there "passively" until a bed bug wanders in and then traps or kills it. This has become a popular tactic.

Detector devices, such as traditional glue traps, simply detect rather than kill the bugs. There are sticky trap and dry ice devices that are advanced, but also costly and require some skill to put together. Hardware stores carry many of these passive devices, but your local pest control company will usually have an even better selection of bed bug traps. Keeping all of this in mind, pest infestations cannot be eliminated solely with traps. Other treatments in conjunction with traps may be able to do the trick.

3. Active Devices.

On the other hand, active devices actually do lure the pests with CO2, heat, and other chemicals and then monitored and tracked or killed. Though these devices cannot take and eliminate an entire bed bug infestation, they are great for confirming that there is indeed a pest infestation before you discuss with a local bug control company about scheduling a home pest inspection.

4. DIY tricks.

Homemade detectors and traps are popular among some homeowners as well. You can create your own mattress guards and sticky traps, but these options should only be seen as preventative measures, not as an actual pest control method. A local pest control company should be contacted upon detecting a bed bug infestation to prevent further issues.

5. Canine scent detection.
